LOS ANGELES PROGRAMS MARKETING SPECIALIST Reports to: Los Angeles Programs Manager Location: Los Angeles, CA FLSA status: Exempt
Position Summary: Responsible for the research, development, execution and analysis of marketing, advertising and public relations in support of all Los Angeles programs and events. This will be carried out in conjunction with Best Friends Marketing and Communications divisions and in support of the No More Homeless Pets mission.
Essential Duties:
- Develop and execute tactical marketing plans to include, but not limited to: strategic and tactical marketing goals in support of defined target markets and demographics consistent with and in collaboration with Best Friends' Marketing and Communications divisions
- Network and foster local relationships with all professional agencies as needed, such as advertising, PR and marketing firms
- Ensure that all plans and collateral materials adhere to established brand guidelines and are consistent with the priorities of achieving the mission of No More Homeless Pets to include, but not limited to: updating local content and information on LA sections of BF.org, Go Local LA (Network), event marketing for Super Adoptions, Independent Rescue Adoptions, Pup My Ride, Strut Your Mutt and all localized campaign activity
- Review and proof all internal and external communication for Los Angeles Programs within the style guide
- Coordinate and place media buys, except when global buys are conducted through the Marketing division to include, but not limited to: events, campaign related activity, production, placement and design (within guidelines)
- Coordinate and implement in-house collateral. This may include working with volunteers on creative pieces. Advertising must be coordinated with the Marketing division and tie into key messages of Best Friends Animal Society
- Oversee local advertising and marketing budgets consistent with the annual marketing plan
- Develop and execute the local advertising/media campaign
- Develop annual public relations plan for Los Angeles Programs in collaboration with the Communications division
- Orchestrate, theme and create all Best Friends Los Angeles Programs press events, press coverage and press conferences in collaboration with the Communications division
- Write and send out all press releases on behalf of Best Friends Los Angeles Programs, approved by the Communications division
- Direct all local media inquiries and interest to the appropriate local spokesperson
- Relate to all local professional firms when necessary and proactively seek out local media opportunities
- Send out press kits or media kits to local rescue partners, animal control partners, and veterinarian partners
- In conjunction with the Marketing division, set up mechanisms for tracking the effectiveness of advertising and marketing campaigns and regularly review and analyze program results as they relate to meeting objectives and goals of No More Homeless Pets in Los Angeles
- Utilize data and identified opportunities from the Marketing division's analysis
- Coordinate and communicate the local marketing plan and strategy with relevant co-workers and involved parties including the annual calendar for staff
- Participate in Marketing and Communications team meetings
Experience/Requirements:
- At least two years experience in a marketing or public relations role. Degree in marketing or public relations desired
- Strong interpersonal skills. The ideal person for this job would be a team player, personable, professional, and able to get along well with a variety of people
- Professionally advocate Best Friends' positions on issues
- Willing and able to represent Best Friends position via all forms of public media as required
- Must be able to work in a fast-paced environment with demonstrated ability to juggle multiple competing tasks and demands
- Proven project management, financial planning and forecasting experience with track record in attaining stated goals
- Strong written and oral communication skills
- Excellent organizational skills. Attention to detail
- Ability to consistently meet deadlines
- Proficiency with MS Office applications, especially Word, Excel, and Outlook.
- Comfortable learning and using online information systems.
- Flexible and enjoys handling a variety of tasks.
- Valid Driver's License with access to transportation to travel on organization business
Physical Requirements:
- Ability to participate in events including nights and weekends and assist in the set-up and breakdown of events
- Extended work at a computer with repetitive typing, arm and hand motion
- Periodic trips to various out-of-state locations such as Kanab, Utah which may require use of public transportation

GENERAL MAINTENANCE - DOGTOWN Reports to: Dogtown Managers Location: Kanab, Utah FLSA status: Non-exempt (hourly) Position Summary: Performs varied physical labor and semi-skilled equipment operations to improve and maintain sanctuary grounds and facilities. Essential Duties:
- Performs a variety of maintenance work such as building maintenance, plumbing repair, swamp cooler set up and repair, roofing repair, appliances repair, carpentry repair, equipment installation, sewer repair, drainage repair, and remodeling projects.
- Performs recurrent preventative maintenance on various equipment, structures and landscaped areas.
- Replace/straighten diamond blocks in parking area and drives. Perform landscaping; brick and block work.
- Weed (by hand or with weed-eater or hula hoe) and clear heavy overgrowth from all common areas. Trim, prune low hanging branches.
- Manage trash, recycling and replace garbage bags in recycling trash cans once per week/keep area neat.
- Assemble/clean/retrieve crates for adoption staff and dogs going on transports.
- Painting fences, doors, etc. Shoveling excess sand and dirt from fence lines.
- Erects wooden structures, repairs road, fence repair, etc.
- Works with a variety of materials, hand sweeping, dumping, spreading, shoveling, raking, tamping, etc.
- Operates, services, cleans, and cares for tools and equipment.
- Follows safe work practices and observes safety precautions.
- Performs a variety of physical labor as assigned.
- Other duties as assigned.
Experience/Requirements:
- Basic knowledge of methods, tools, equipment, materials, and practices used in construction and maintenance.
- Working outdoors with ability to perform physical work requiring coordination, agility, strength, and stamina. Work includes heavy lifting (typically up to 80 pounds); prolonged periods of standing, stooping, reaching, crawling, climbing and manual dexterity.
- Ability to obtain appropriate certificates or licenses required to operate and service equipment; to learn to operate a variety of hand and portable power tools, vehicles, and mobile construction and maintenance equipment skillfully and safely.
- Ability to follow oral and written instructions; read and interpret maps, diagrams, and equipment operations manuals; maintain records; make basic arithmetical calculations.
- Valid Driver's license, with 3 year clean driving record.
- Work with a positive outlook, upbeat, energetic, and taking initiative.

NETWORK ADMINISTRATOR, IT Reports to: IT Manager Location: Kanab, Utah FLSA status: Salary Position Summary: Responsible for design and support of the Best Friends campus Fiber Optic and Ethernet computer data network including Cisco VoIP telephony system. This position will be responsible for the daily maintenance, upgrade and administration of the existing network infrastructure for the campus network, including all Fiber, Ethernet and Wireless infrastructure. Will work on projects, as assigned, to integrate new systems into, as well as update and enhance, the existing network infrastructure. Essential Duties:
- Supports the Ethernet and Fiber networks and attached devices to configure and control the network elements
- Analyzes problems and recommends the best solutions or corrective actions
- Develops and maintains accurate network documentation
- Performs routine system operations and diagnostic tests to identify and isolate system fault
- Participates in the maintenance and support for entire infrastructure
- Performs system software and hardware installations, upgrades to production and development network infrastructure as directed by the department manager or supervisor
- Assists in the engineering, planning and coordination of campus network
- Responsible for providing support and architectural design for VoIP telephony infrastructure
Experience/Requirements:
- Strong technical knowledge of current network hardware, protocols, and standards, including Cisco routers, Catalyst switches, Internet firewalls including Cisco ASA
- Cisco CCNA/CCNP Certification a plus or equivalent knowledge and experience with Cisco routers and switches or similar networking equipment
- Strong experience and knowledge of Microsoft Operating Systems, applications and services - Server, Workstation, SQL, ISA, Active Directory, DNS, etc)
- Experience with Cisco VoIP telephony, including Cisco Call Manager and Cisco Unity
- Outstanding communication and initiative
- Strong analytical and troubleshooting skills
- Valid Driver's License with access to transportation
