DOGTOWN MAINTENANCE & GROUNDSKEEPER Reports to: Manager, Dogs Location: Kanab, UT FLSA status: Non-Exempt
Position Summary: Performs varied physical labor and semi-skilled equipment operations to improve and maintain Dogtown department grounds and facilities.
Essential Duties:
- Performs recurrent preventative maintenance on various equipment, structures and landscaped areas; replace light bulbs, A.C. filters, service swamp coolers, snow shoveling, etc.
- Maintaining walking trails, scooping poop, straightening diamond blocks, picking up litter, etc.
- Replace/straighten diamond blocks in parking area and drives. Perform landscaping; brick and block work.
- Weed (by hand or with weed-eater or hula hoe) and clear heavy overgrowth from all common areas. Trim, prune low hanging branches.
- Replace garbage bags in recycling trash cans once per week/keep area neat.
- Assemble/clean/retrieve crates for adoption staff and dogs going on transports.
- Manage trash and recycling.
- Works with a variety of materials, hand sweeping, dumping, spreading, shoveling, raking, tamping, etc.
- Operates, services, cleans, and cares for tools and equipment.
- Painting fences, doors, etc. Shoveling excess sand and dirt from fence lines.
- Check on understaffed areas and offer any assistance needed working under caregiver supervision.
- Follows safe work practices and observes safety precautions.
- Other duties as assigned.
Experience/Requirements:
- Works with a positive outlook, upbeat, energetic, and takes initiative. Must be a self-starter!
- Basic knowledge of methods, tools, equipment, materials, and practices used in landscaping and maintenance.
- Working outdoors, ability to perform physical work requiring coordination, agility, strength, and stamina. Ability to obtain appropriate certificates or licenses required to operate and service equipment; to learn to operate a variety of hand and portable power tools, vehicles, and mobile construction and maintenance equipment skillfully and safely.
- Ability to follow oral and written instructions; read and interpret maps, diagrams, and equipment operations manuals; maintain records; make basic arithmetical calculations.
- Valid Driver's License, with 3 year clean driving record.
Physical Requirements:
- Work includes heavy lifting (typically up to 80 pounds); prolonged periods of standing; stooping, reaching, crawling, and climbing; manual dexterity.
- Must be able to carry 15-20 lbs on trails for (+/-) 100 yards.
- Must be able to work out of doors in all weather conditions, with temperatures ranging from below freezing to 100 degrees.
- Able to walk dogs that pull on leash.
- Must be able to work on feet all day with frequent bending, stooping and walking trails.

PROSPECT RESEARCH ASSOCIATE Reports to: Major Gifts Manager Location: Kanab or Remote FLSA status: Exempt Position Summary: The ideal candidate for this position will plan and prepare comprehensive and/or complex in-depth research services for the Development Division of Best Friends Animal Society. This will include identifying, evaluating and recommending major gift prospects for annual, capital campaign, planned giving and special project funding. The Prospect Research Associate will also perform related duties including assisting with information management for donors and prospects. This position will coordinate and work with the Major Gifts Specialist in the department. Essential Duties:
- Perform prospect research duties, including data collection (biographical, financial and other information) via various online resources, data analysis, preparation of donor profiles, briefings and event lists
- Provide written analytic reports about specific donors and prospects, containing an analysis of information gathered from internal and external sources
- Develop and maintain policies and procedures for the prospect research program, to include capturing external information and integrating it with Best Friends software
- Manage external research information services
- Strategize with the Major Gifts team regarding prospect identification, and collaborate to develop donor prospect reports appropriate to departmental needs
- Track the work of the team, and keeping ongoing records to help with upcoming campaigns and projects
- Providing assistance in preparation for, and during, Major Donor events
- Performs other duties as assigned or requested
Experience/Requirements:
- A Bachelor's Degree and a minimum of two years of experience and/or training in research work; or equivalent combination of education and experience for a non-profit organization is required. General research experience using web based tools, computerized databases, and Internet sources is also required

IT SYSTEMS ADMINISTRATOR - EXCHANGE Reports to: IT Manager Location: Kanab, UT FLSA status: Exempt Position Summary:The System Administrator will support the Microsoft Exchange environment which will consist of design, implementation and maintenance. The ideal candidate will also have excellent knowledge in Exchange 2003 and Local Area Network hardware and software, knowledge of architectural designs and plans for server components, including processors, disk arrays, tape storage, operating systems and other peripheral devices. Essential Duties:
- Administer and support of Microsoft Exchange 2003
- Administer and support Active Directory, DNS & Microsoft Exchange replication.
- Responsible for planning, testing, tuning, configuration and setup of Microsoft Exchange architecture as well as common supporting email applications.
- Supervise others in planning, testing and configuration of Microsoft Exchange or applications hosted via Microsoft Exchange.
- Maintain appropriate documentation on the Microsoft Exchange environment.
- Provide On-Call support and participate in on-call rotation for off-hours support.
- Participate in monthly weekend maintenance activities.
- Produce appropriate documentation for application deployment, configuration, and related processes.
- Enforce change management and compliance processes.
- Assists in coordinating and scheduling all server hardware installation, maintenance, problem resolution, failure recovery, and performance tuning, configuration, and optimization issues.
- Maintains interoperability between servers, workstations, and other network devices in a multi-server, multi-operating system environment.
Experience/Requirements:
- Ability to make sound judgments and work independently in a fast-paced environment with demonstrated ability to juggle multiple competing tasks and demands.
- 2-3 years working experience with Microsoft Exchange 2003 administration
- 2-3 years experience in the management of multi-server, multi-operating system network operations.
- 2+ years experience working with Microsoft Active Directory.
- Minimum 2 years experience using Group Policies Objects and Logon scripts.
- Must have 3 years working experience supporting, maintaining and administering core Microsoft technologies including Windows 2003 (or beyond).
- Sound working knowledge of network infrastructure and operations, including switching, routing, Ethernet, TCP/IP.
- Sound working knowledge of remote access technology.
- Proficient with Microsoft Office Applications Professional Suite

ANNUAL FUND MANAGER Reports to: Development Director Location: Kanab, UT FLSA status: Exempt Position Summary: Oversight for all annual fundraising activities related to advancement of the organization, focusing on Acquisition, Stewardship and Web Fundraising. Work closely with other development and marketing staff to integrate annual fund activities with other programs to achieve financial and strategic objectives. Essential Duties:

- Budget planning, implementation and accountability for Annual Funds department.
- Creation and implementation of promotional activities for web fundraising.
- Analysis and success reporting for all programs and activities.
- Partnership with other fundraising departments to maximize presence of and response to their programs online.
- Work closely with programmers to maximize data gathering for donor management systems.
- Work closely with the Network, Content and Technical teams to maximize advancement and fundraising throughout the web site and through external sites.
- Partner with leadership to evolve new media and channels for prospect and member development.

Experience/Requirements:
- 4+ years of fundraising experience with an emphasis on direct mail, online fundraising and stewardship.
- Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience.
- Strong communication and organizational skills.
- Demonstrated computer skills including experience with working with web development and promotion, web optimization and relational databases.
- Working understanding of web development processes and comfort communicating with technical support staff.
- Proven experience in direct mail campaigns.
- Skill with metrics, analytics and success measures for programming.
- Excellent attention to detail, problem solving and time management skills.
