'PUPPIES AREN'T PRODUCTS' CAMPAIGN COMES TO LAS VEGAS; PEACEFUL DEMONSTRATION EDUCATES ABOUT PET STORES

DID YOU KNOW that the cute puppies in the windows of Las Vegas pet shops come from USDA-licensed commercial breeders, also known as a puppy mills?

DID YOU KNOW that dogs in commercial breeding facilities are not treated like pets, but more like livestock. They are confined in small cages, for years at a time, for the sole purpose of churning out as many puppies as possible

DID YOU KNOW that each year 27,000 homeless pets are euthanized in Las Vegas animal shelters?

DID YOU KNOW because of commercial breeders' focus on quantity over quality, and a resultant lack of puppy socialization and genetic testing, many pet store dogs have physical and behavioral issues that are not discovered until the dog is taken home?

DID YOU KNOW that Best Friends Animal Society was successful in converting a former puppy mill-supplied pet shop in Los Angeles to a business that exclusively offers shelter and breed rescue dogs for sale? Our hope is to achieve this same goal in Las Vegas.

DID YOU KNOW that adopting a dog from a local shelter or breed rescue organization, consumers can be part of the solution to the puppy mill problem.
