Dave Ortiz, Media Relations Manager

Dave Ortiz is the media relations manager for the Best Friends No More Homeless Pets campaign. He works with the community program managers to coordinate publicity for the nationwide campaign.

Dave is past president of the Flagstaff Pet Assistance League and he helped establish the Flagstaff chapter of the Animal Defense League of Arizona. He was also on the steering committee for Planned Pethood, a low-cost spay/neuter program in Flagstaff. He has done volunteer work with animal groups in Houston and San Antonio, Texas.

Prior to coming to Best Friends, Dave worked at Northern Arizona University in Flagstaff in the public affairs office helping to publicize the work of researchers and students. During a previous life as an anthropologist, he worked with local individuals in the Navajo Nation to promote animal welfare issues.

Dave lives with his three cats, Bootsie, Mollie Girl and Wahoo, and the newest member of the family, his dog Curley.
