Elizabeth Doyle, Sanctuary Editor
Elizabeth Doyle is the sanctuary editor for Best Friends. She writes and edits for the website, magazine and newsletters.
She's a much-published romance novelist from Texas. (Elizabeth Doyle is her nom de plume, not her given name.) And she was one of the first members of Austin Pets Alive, which is dedicated to stopping the deaths at Austin's primary animal shelter. She created Austin's first pet-friendly apartment list, so renters don't have to choose between having a home and keeping their best friends.
She also visited animals at Austin's shelter before they were put down, writing and distributing descriptions of them to give them one last chance - a labor of love that earned her a lot of surprise publicity.
Later, she became editor of Austin Pets Alive's No-Kill Handbill, Austin's daily no-kill newsletter, and remained editor until she came to Best Friends.
When Elizabeth's not writing, she's usually being disruptive in some other way, so it's best to keep her writing. She wishes she lived in a more romantic age, and would gladly trade her horseless carriage (a Hyundai) for the chance to be queen over a small country in the Victorian era for just one week.
