Visiting Best Friends Everything you need to know about planning your visit (hours, directions, where to stay).
Jamie Lyn Rubin, Esq., New York City Program Manager
Jamie has been volunteering with animals her entire life, including wildlife rescue and rehabilitation, animal law, domestic animal care, and animal charity event planning. A graduate of Benjamin N. Cardozo School of Law and Boston College, she is a member of the Connecticut and New York State Bar Associations.
During law school Jamie focused on animals by devoting two research papers to animal related themes and created an internship managing a 24-hour animal law hotline in New York City. Her passion for animals followed her to court. Literally. While clerking for a judge in criminal court in Connecticut, Jamie rehabilitated small animals and His Honor often discovered them in his chambers during lengthy trials.
Jamie attended the Adventures in Veterinary Medicine program at the Tufts University Cummings School of Veterinary Medicine, to gain information regarding animal diseases, illness, zoonoses and public health, and participated in a number of online FEMA courses as well as emergency criminal and disaster response animal rescue training with United Animal Nations Emergency Animals Rescue Service.
Since 2005, Jamie has been with the Anti-Defamation League civil rights organization, most recently as the associate director of investigative research.
Associated with Best Friends for over a decade, Jamie visited the Utah sanctuary in 2001 and knows the organization well. She first volunteered at a fundraising event at the W Hotel in New York City presented by Best Friends for a local group.
Jamie credits her deep devotion and love for all animals to her family, and is incredibly grateful everyday that she was raised in a home that welcomed all types: dogs, cats, birds, bunnies, chickens and a goat, to name a few.
This job is truly Jamies dream come true. She lives in New York City with her furry family Sugarbear, Romeo, and Bambi.
