Steven Hirano, Development Director
Steven Hirano is one of the founders of Best Friends Animal Society. He is the development director, overseeing the fundraising and membership program.
Steven is also the creative director of Best Friends Magazine, now the nation's largest general-interest animal publication. Steven also creates the much-loved animal cartoons for Best Friends.
In the early days of the sanctuary, Steven was involved in building many of the first shelter buildings.
Steven was born in Los Angeles and has an extensive background in nonprofit fundraising and publishing. He lives in Angel Canyon with his wife, Mariko, their dog Tommy (pictured here), and many feline companions.
