Bugle had a special place in the heart of the young child in his family. But when the youngster grew up, the grown-ups decided they didn't really have a place for an eight-year-old beagle any more.

This is Everest, and he's playing Santa at Best Friends. He's a rambunctious old fellow, full of "Ho Ho Ho's." And he can be a bit "naughty" at times, which may be why his family set him loose and abandoned him.

But he's a really nice old fellow, too, and the fact that he has an inoperable cancer means that everyone who meets him at Best Friends just loves him all the more.

Duchess is doing the honors as Santa at Best Friends.
Duchess is't just playing Santa. She really is a bit of a saint in her own sweet way. When her person had to give her up to go into a nursing home, Duchess came to the sanctuary. She was a bit sad at first, but she has a wonderful way with seniors. So she started paying weekly visits to a local retirement home, bringing kisses and good cheer to all the folks who live there.
