A tail of three amigos who followed their star to Best Friends
Once upon a time there were Three Wise Men who came to Best Friends Animal Sanctuary, not in the typical form of kings who are admired by everyone, but as Dachshunds whom nobody wanted.
They came from different places around America. But each of them said he knew he'd been guided by a big bright star in his search for a good new life.
And, like all Wise Men, they each came bearing gifts...
Jessie, the extra-furry one, brought the gift of Forgiveness. He'd been with his original family for 11 years when they gave him up, but although he was sad when he first arrived, he's never been angry and he's kind and gentle to everyone.
Brownie brought the gift of Prudence. He's never been able to control his urge to bite people's toes, so everyone who looks after him has learned that love is no less love for being prudent and careful. (Oh, and when you're around Brownie it had better be unconditional, too!)
And Remington brought the gift of Perseverance. Remmy has a neurological problem, so it takes him a while to figure things out. It even took him a couple of months to work out exactly where people are standing when they come to visit him here! But this little guy never gives up, and there's a lesson in that for all of us.
Soon after they arrived at Best Friends, these Three Amigos realized how truly wise they must be, because they had found each other and were finally home.
And since the best fairy tales always come true, the Three Amigos are, of course, all living happily ever after.
