Old Friends
Retiring - Old Friends style!
It's the perfect place for an old guy who's seen it all!
There's a slower pace of life around Old Friends, the quieter "suburb" of Best Friends Dogtown.
The dogs here don't tend to be as excited by the sight of a bouncing tennis ball as their younger friends. But they love a gentle afternoon walk, a good long cuddle, and a tummy rub.
These pooches live in groups of seven or eight, according to who likes snuggling with whom. You'll often find three of them piled together on a dog bed that's designed for one!
If you prefer the slower pace of Old Friends, too, then you'll enjoy taking one of them for a stroll. Each of their preferences is clearly marked on the doors: Keaton likes a brisk trot; Belinda enjoys just a very short walk; Raider prefers to stay home and snooze! But these old friends all look forward to their daily visitors - even the shy ones like Edgar (pictured above).
Edgar is the shyest of them all - but what a mischievous little smile he wears! It's hard to keep from wondering what's going on in that sharp mind of his. He beams those tender eyes at you, and then goes all coy and backs away. But he never takes his eyes off you, and he's actually hoping you won't give up on him, because he really loves people and he loves being taken for a walk!
Edgar came to the sanctuary as an extremely frightened stray. He's 13 years old, and his deep fears have melted away. Some day, he may find a home with someone who doesn't mind the way he keeps to himself. But he's in no hurry, and he's very content with the good life at Old Friends, where he can live life at his own gentle pace.
After all, the fresh air, bright scenery, and constant companionship at Old Friends makes it the perfect place for a faithful old dog to retire.
