Santa Goes Home
"When I saw Everest's photo as the Santa dog on your Holiday newsletter, I knew he was meant to live with me," says Joann Franz of St. Clair Shores, Michigan.
Everest came to the sanctuary with cancer. "We took a tumor out of his chest," explained veterinarian Dr. Virginia Froehlich. "But not all of the cancer could be removed." And that means that the five-year-old golden retriever doesn't have a long life expectancy.
Joann says she wants Everest to be part of her family, regardless of how long he has. "He loves going for car rides to work, then he zonks out at my nail salon. We take a walk at lunch, he munches down his homemade organic food, then at home he lays on the couch with his head in my lap."
"He's perfect," she adds. "We were meant to be together, and we can take care of anything that comes our way."
