Together Again

A Canada goose was found six weeks ago near a lake in Alton, Utah - badly injured with an enormous chest wound.

"It was touch and go for a while," says Jodi Chavez at the Best Friends Wildlife Center, "but she got better. And since Canadian geese mate for life, we decided to take a chance and see if the mate was still around the lake. So we took her back up to the lake at Alton where we found three geese waiting for her.

"She flew off and it was really beautiful to see her mate fly up to her. Then they took off together - a very rewarding ending."
