Professor Barkalot's Secret Mission -- Page Three The Professor's return, and his most profound revelation The Professor drew closer to us - his voice now more hoarse and urgent. "My quest," he whispered, "did not end in central Europe.
Through a second map, I have been able to trace the continued wanderings of this cat who, I have concluded, has recently arrived at Best Friends and is just about to move in to the new Wildcats Village. It is most necessary that you are taking me to her." "You mean ...?" I gasped. "This is correct," affirmed the Professor. "The dinner she ate in the 17th century was not good. The poor cat, she was not well looked after. The result is the world in which we are now living. "You see, therefore, the true purpose of my mission," he continued. "This cat, she must always have lots of nice treats. She must eat things that are delicious and that she will really enjoy. And whenever she has dinner, everyone must tell her what a wonderful cat she is and how good she has been. Then, whatever new universe comes about will be a very good one." "But what about the millions of other cats who may be having dinner and then creating parallel universes?" asked Tammy. "Precisely," said the Professor. "You understand well the profound implications of my discovery and how important it is that they all enjoy wonderful dinners in wonderful homes and in happy circumstances." * * * The Professor is currently resting from his exhausting travels. When he awakens tomorrow morning, Tammy and I will take him to the Wildcats Village where he will search for a charming but otherwise nondescript, small, gray, striped, stray cat moving in to the new Wildcats Village and offer her some delicious treats. For the sake of universes-to-come, you should probably do the same for your cats at home. P.S. If you discover your cat in the process of creating a new universe, send us the photo. |
