Grosse Romantische Oper in drei Aufzügen von Herr
Tomato die Katze - Best Friends Composer Laureate and Emeritus

The Countess visited Tristan at the TLC Cat Club. |
I needed
to do something special. We had just had a visit from the beautiful
Countess Lambsdorff, spokesperson for the Deutsche Gesellschaft Tier and Natur
which looks after animals in Germany.
The Countess had had TV cameras following her around at Best Friends, and I
had even been video'd myself for German TV.
So you can imagine that I needed to come up with something quite spectacular
in order to reciprocate the honor in a memorable fashion.
A new kitty called Tristan. It so happens
that we had just welcomed a new special-needs kitty called Tristan to the TLC Cat Club.
Now Tristan, as you opera buffs will know, is also the hero of the great
German opera Tristan und Isolde by the composer Richard Wagner.
Wagner was a bit of a pain, and his operas are quite long and complicated, but he loved
animals and founded the German antivivisection movement, so I think this works quite well.
Anyway, I have decided to update the opera and dedicate it to the Countess --
in honor of all the animals who are being looked after in shelters in Germany.
