Raindancers Help the Sanctuary

Eight teens from Raindancer Youth Services recently came to Best Friends to help the animals, out in the fresh air. They cleaned litter boxes, looked after the dogs, and did it all with great cheer and enthusiasm.

The kids represented several different Native American tribes. The Raindancer program helps native teens who may be struggling on their paths to adulthood. "Helping others instills a sense of self-worth," said one of their counselors. "Whether it's animals or people." And the teens were more than happy to spend a day out with the animals of Best Friends.

"On Saturday, I'd usually be watching TV or playing a video game," said one boy. "But I wanted to come here and get away from things. I like it when we do things with animals the best." And the animals like it, too. They're delighted to hear that more visits are on the horizon from these cheerful teens from St. George, Utah.
