What are the long-term costs of caring for a pet? Some of the
costs of having a pet only happen once a year, or once in a while. Visit a local
pet store, veterinarian's office, library, or other information sources and
find out how much it costs to obtain these items and services. To find the total
costs for each animal, fill in the chart, and then add up each column. Some
spaces may be blank, since, for instance, hamsters don't need licenses.
