    Challenges Welcome

Valerie Clark of Antelope, California, came to Best Friends looking to adopt a cat who had a harder time getting adopted. "I like a challenge. I thought I'd take home an older cat because I know they don't get homes easily. But in talking with the adoption staff, I found out FIV-positive (feline immunodeficiency virus) kitties have an even harder time getting adopted, even though they can live long, healthy lives as indoor cats." Morris, Shasta and Pharaoh are the lucky FIV+ kitties who went home with Valerie.

Read more about the myths and truth of FIV in "FIV: Catching a Bad Case of Rumors," and our FIV fact sheet.
