Loverboy
You should have seen him when he first arrived at Best Friends! It would have broken your heart.
Loverboy was so skinny, his bones actually clanked together out loud when he moved. He was less than six pounds when he should have been closer to 12.
Loverboy was one of the cats who came to Best Friends after a shelter in Pahrump, Nevada was shut down. Cats like Loverboy were nearly despondent from neglect. He would just stare into space and not quite see you when you were looking at him.
But TLC is making a lot of difference for this boy! When a Best Friends caregiver gave him a toy ... he acted like it was the first gift anyone had ever given him, and he cradled it for days. When somebody gave him a hug and just held him ... that's when he started to eat again.
Loverboy has FIV, which isn't scary - it's very hard to pass it even from one cat to another, and can't be passed to anyone who's not a cat.
His personality is like a professor's. He's intelligent, stoic, dignified ... and has just a little magic in his eyes.
Extra mellow, Loverboy is gentle and affectionate. And his favorite pastime is finding very warm places to curl up and snuggle.
