The Sanctuary

For You and Your Animal Companions

Experience, study, and practice this ancient hands-on Healing Art in an in-depth class, while bringing peace and well being to the animals here at the Sanctuary!

Jin Shin Jyutsu (translated as the Art of the Creator through Compassionate Man) balances the body, mind, and spirit.  Adele Leas, internationally known proponent and teacher of the Art has pioneered this work and made it applicable for domesticated animals.  Adele has been teaching at Best Friends since 2006.  At the sanctuary, dogs, cats, horses, along with other animals, repeatedly show their innate understanding of this non-verbal Art and seem to have been waiting all their lives to be touched like this.

"I came to work with the animals and I got that and so much more.  What I didn?t expect was the healing I got myself." -- Previous attendee.

The workshops are designed to introduce you to Jin Shin Jyutsu, giving you the knowledge to use this gentle Art of harmonizing on yourself and on your beloved animal companions.  You will first learn to apply the work to yourself, allowing you to become more centered and open to sharing with animals.  This will also give you firsthand experience about what an animal will feel when receiving sessions from you.  You will soon move confidently to sharing this work with animals of different species.  During class, you will explore the 26 Safety Energy Locks (building blocks of the body) and several major flows and "Quickies" for harmonizing body, mind, and spirit.  The classes also cover topics such as creating a physically and emotionally safe environment, how to approach and make gentle contact with different species, reading animal body language, and basics of intuitive communication.

"The class was a great balance of explanation and hands on, both as self help and with the animals.  I was astounded at the way the animals responded." --Previous attendee.

Experiencing the Art of Harmonizing the Life Energy

Sharing Jin Shin Jyutsu with an animal companion is a deeply rewarding experience.  Applying this Art will help:

  • To promote harmony and well-being in both you and your animal companions
  • To aid in healing
  • To increase communication and deepen the bond between you and your?animal companion

"I loved Adele's presentation style - never boring, very entertaining but always genuine. The work was clearly presented and all questions were welcomed and thoroughly answered." --Previous attendee.

Bringing Balance to the Body's Energy

The knowledge to use this gentle Art of harmonizing on your beloved pet or animal companion is easy to begin using.  The work focuses on the principles of self-help.  You learn to work on yourself as you work on your four-legged friend.

Disharmonies and health conditions improved through this Art include:

  • Lessening healing time after injury or surgery
  • Digestive and elimination concerns
  • Skeletal and muscular issues
  • Circulatory problems
  • Arthritis, rheumatism and other age related imbalances

In addition to these and many other physical ailments, Jin Shin Jyutsu can effectively assist in attitudinal disharmonies such as:

  • Stubbornness or aggressive behavior
  • Fear issues
  • Grief issues

"I feel so much more confident to work on my animals and have much more real expectations now.  I want to start volunteering in my local shelter now with this great tool."  "I have never had such a rich experience in a workshop!" -- Previous attendees.
