Who you gonna call? Sherry Woodard, if it’s a dog behavior problem! Best Friends’ Sherry Woodard is consulted by animal shelters and humane organizations all around the world. A nationally certified dog trainer, she’s developed her own signature style of evaluating an animal’s behavior to determine what the animal needs to work on with trainers, and what the ideal home for each animal would look like. She’s even developed a cat behavior test based on their body language! Sherry came to Best Friends 11 years ago, and has worn a lot of different hats. She’s been manager of Dogtown, and during Hurricane Katrina, she was one of Best Friends’ first responders, helping animals as they were pulled from the flood waters. Sherry keeps Best Friends well-supplied with animal care, behavior and training materials. And she’s made two dog training CDs. When she’s not working, she’s still with dogs most of the time! Sherry actually lives on Best Friends’ Dogtown sanctuary grounds, along with her son, Donal and their four dogs and four cats. Sherry is also a certified EMT and volunteers for search and rescue missions as well as for local animal control.
