Sprite had a few special visitors these past few weeks. First Lopon Barbara Dubois (seen left) a Buddhist Teacher visited the Parrot Garden. She did a tonglen meditation practice for Sprite. She also chanted the Green Tara mantra which evokes the spirit of love and compassion for all beings. This spirit is represented by a Tibetan goddess called Green Tara, who's specialty is coming swiftly to the aid of those in need. She then left a Buddha healing card to be posted were Sprite could see it. Shortly after she was here Sprite’s ventriculus went to normal size (about half the size it had been) for the first time since we have been monitoring her health condition. As a result of this development she avoided her scheduled surgery.
I realize this transition in Sprite’s condition does not necessarily mean that she is healed or that the difficult times are over, but I cannot help but be inquisitive about what happened. I do believe in things that cannot always be rationalized or explained, things that are often called miracles. Although, I do also understand why some people are skeptical when miraculous things happening and say it was coincidental. Regardless if what happened to Sprite was a miracle or not… I do believe in miracles, I witness them here at Best Friends all the time.
Sprite’s second special visitor was Jack. Jack is another White-bellied Caique that recently moved up to Best Friends from his foster home (where he was being quarantined). Sprite has other Black-headed Caique friends, but she has never met another White-bellied Caique like her. There was an instant connection. Sprite went right over and tucked her head under Jack’s head. Jack even got to do a few sleepovers in Sprite’s cage. It sure would be nice if Sprite’s future updates had less to do with her health problems and more to do with a love connection… Maybe a romance novel is in my future?
