Who are the animals receiving Guardian Angel care?
Most have suffered serious trauma – physical or emotional, or have painful or debilitating conditions that can require expensive medical care. We tell their ongoing stories over time with weekly updates from our veterinary staff and caregivers. You can follow their stories from the beginning, watch their progress, even apply to adopt! It’s interactive too - you can download wallpapers, send e-cards or watch videos in the “now playing” section, or post a comment to any of the journal entries.

How long do the animals stay at Best Friends?
Some recover quickly and don't need to stay at the sanctuary for the rest of their lives. This is why we don't ask people to sponsor them individually. The Guardian Angel program is really about helping them get the extra care they need when they arrive, whatever that is, getting them back to good health and then placing them in a very good home. We continue to follow their stories even after they've been adopted!


For those that do require long-term – perhaps lifelong – care at the sanctuary, you will be helping them live the very best life possible.
