The Few, The Proud... The Best Friends Brigade
No, you don't have to have gone through boot camp to be a volunteer with the Best Friends Brigade, but it probably would help!
With the goal of making a difference for local rescue groups, teams of Los Angeles area Best Friends volunteers have a different take on what makes for a relaxing weekend. With sleeves rolled up, and the tools out of the garage, they're part of the Best Friends Brigade.
On a couple of Saturdays each month, they head out to local animal rescue groups, and help out with the grimy tasks that often get put off when there are animals to love and care for, which, quite understandably, usually takes priority.
They've scrubbed and repainted the animal bathing and grooming area at Friends For Animals; cleaned, raked and pulled weeds in the dog yard at Little Angels Pug Rescue; and even put a whole new roof on the dog runs at the Double E Ranch.
This little band of soldiers marches out to help about local rescue groups with a variety of tasks. The volunteers come from all walks of life, and all areas of Southern California.
The Brigade is a great opportunity for you animal lovers who can only commit one or two days per month to volunteer time.
