In from the Cold
Two dogs and a horse in a remote area of Utah were saved this week by the Best Friends Network.
One day, a woman looked out her window and saw that the neighbors had moved... and left their animals! There was a horse wandering about without shelter, and two dogs tied up with only one doghouse between them, and on chains so short they could not touch each other, even to get warm in the freezing cold.
She fed the threesome for a month, then called Best Friends for help. Jean Hansen soon found help: a small local rescue group called Angels for Animals in Veyo, Utah. They drove out to give shelter, food and hugs to the shivering dogs and horse.
"So many little rescue groups are not well-known," says Jean. "All their money goes to the care of animals - period. Like Angels for Animals. That's why it's called a network. We do the networking for people so they can find help they might not even know existed, right in their own backyards."
