Back from the Brink

Pipsqueak almost died last week, but was saved by the Best Friends Network.

She was diagnosed with feline leukemia, so her family brought her back to the vet clinic. For treatment? No. To have her put down.

But someone at the vet's office in Montana called Best Friends, and Beata Liebetruth sent out a message to all members of the Best Friends Network in the region.

Sure enough, someone was more than happy to adopt little Pipsqueak, leukemia positive and all. She lived a few towns away, so the vet clinic staff met her halfway to make the furry exchange.

"It was perfect timing," the vet clinic told Beata. "We were about to give up. Pipsqueak's new person is Betsy, and she lives in Sheridan. She seems like a wonderful person and told us that Pipsqueak even had her own sunroom. The original owner thought we had put her to sleep. We told her that Pipsqueak has a wonderful home now and will be real happy to be out of her cage. She was in tears."

Beata has a photo of Pipsqueak pinned to her board, "That's what our Network members do every day," she said.
