Alice Ng

Alice Ng

Alice Ng is the associate director for Animal Balance, a humane, community-based project to control the cat and dog populations of the Galapagos Islands. The pilot project, conducted in April/May 2004, resulted in sterilization of 75 percent of the dog population and 54 percent of the cat population on Isabela Island, the largest of the islands.

Ms. Ng comes from a diverse background in the environmental and nonprofit sector. In recent years, she has been participating in scientific research for the Gulf of the Farallones National Marine Sanctuary, collecting data on harbor seals that will help manage their populations in the sanctuary.

As a former shark campaigner for WildAid, Ms. Ng has coordinated international campaign efforts to combat the global shark crisis that included developing international press relationships, raising consumer and public awareness, and developing a unique traveling shark exhibition, which was hosted in major cities in the United States and Asia.

Ms. Ng currently serves as an officer for the San-Francisco-based group, Asian Americans for Community Outreach, where she helps to build the capacity of community volunteers through unique fundraising events.
