Feral Cats
How to persuade your neighbors,
local animal control agency,
and government officials to be
sympathetic to the plight of feral cats

Becky Robinson

Becky Robinson, Alley Cat Allies' national director, has worked in the animal protection field for over 20 years.

Becky co-founded Alley Cat Allies in 1990 as a clearinghouse of information about how to control feral feline populations without killing by implementing the Trap-Neuter-Return (TNR) method.

In addition to her advocacy and educational work, Becky established two low-cost spay/neuter clinics for stray and feral cats in the Washington, D.C., area, and still oversees their operation. Staffed by veterinarian and veterinary technician volunteers, these clinics serve clients from throughout the mid-Atlantic region, and demonstrate spay/neuter clinic protocol to caretakers and veterinarians alike.

Becky consults with animal control agencies, animal rescue groups, and humane societies nationwide to find innovative solutions to companion animal overpopulation. In recent years, Alley Cat Allies has influenced change in government and military policies to embrace non-lethal control of feral cats in areas including Atlantic City, New Jersey; Norfolk Naval Shipyard, Virginia; Brevard County, Florida; and Avenal State Prison, California.

A regular speaker at seminars and conferences in the U.S. and Canada, Becky is also an associate editor of Alley Cat Allies' award-winning quarterly journal, Alley Cat Action.

Becky received her master's degree in public administration from the University of Missouri - Kansas City in 1987, and a B.A. in social work from Bethany College in 1979. She has been trained and certified by the National Animal Control Association (NACA).

Becky comes from a long tradition of animal protection: Her family formed the first humane society in her hometown of McPherson, Kansas, in 1975.
