Pet Transport
Moving pets from one region to

Jean Hansen

Jean Hansen became a "corporate dropout" in the fall of 2002 when she decided to follow her heart instead of her pocketbook. Besides her "real" job, Jean had been serving on a volunteer basis as the president of the Humane Society of the Upper Valley and president of the Eagle Rock Chapter of Back Country Horsemen, both located in Idaho Falls, Idaho.

At Best Friends, Jean has worked to develop a system that coordinates the transportation of animals to and from the sanctuary, and provides assistance to other rescue groups and individuals who are trying to move animals in various directions. In addition to coordinating the transportation, Jean occasionally drives one of the vans and, in other ways, participates "hands on" in transportation activities. She feels that this is the best way to really understand what the transportation needs are and to develop ways to improve the process.

Jean completed her undergraduate work in 1973 by earning a degree in biology with a minor in chemistry. She recently decided to pursue a master's degree in global organizational management.

Jean lives in Kanab, Utah, in a turn-of-the-century adobe house with her dogs.
