Karla Brestle

Dr. Karla Brestle

Dr. Karla Brestle is the medical director of Humane Alliance in Asheville, North Carolina. Humane Alliance is a nonprofit, high-volume, low-cost spay/neuter clinic founded to provide low-cost sterilization services as a nonlethal solution to the pet overpopulation dilemma. The mission is not simply to reduce companion animal overpopulation, but to end it.

Dr. Brestle is a 1993 graduate of the College of Veterinary Medicine at North Carolina State University. Following graduation, she spent three years in a mixed animal practice in rural North Carolina and developed an interest in shelter medicine, which led her to a position as shelter veterinarian for two years in Greensboro, North Carolina.

She has been with the Humane Alliance since 1998 and is dedicated to accomplishing the organization's mission through the clinic's National Spay/Neuter Response Team, a team developed to teach others to duplicate the Humane Alliance program.
