Marc Sayer
Marc Sayer is the founder and director of Deaf Dane Rescue Inc., a rescue dedicated to special-needs great Danes since 2002. Marc has always loved dogs, especially the giant breeds, which only makes sense, being a bit of a giant himself at over 6 feet, 3 inches.
Marc is 49 years old and lives with Carole, his wife of 26 years, in Springfield, Oregon. He has a diverse background, having worked as a magazine editor and publisher, an actor, a chef, a race car mechanic, and a photographer. Through it all, dogs were always by his side.
Marc's work with DDRI is a full-time job, but he has also found time to help start an association of Dane rescues, the Western States Great Dane Rescue Association (WSGDRA), whose goal is to improve the overall quality of rescue, to facilitate cooperation between rescues, and to help ensure that no Dane is euthanized for lack of a rescue to take him or her. To that end, WSGDRA has a "load sharing" program that allows rescues to communicate about dogs and to transfer dogs from rescues that are overcrowded to rescues that have space.
Marc is also a member of the DaneTrain, a national great Dane transport group that has been invaluable in assisting with DDRI's transports.
