No More Homeless Pets
Stephanie Hiemstra
Engaging the Community
How to recruit people to your cause
and evade tricky politics

Stephanie Hiemstra

Stephanie Hiemstra is the partner development director for No More Homeless Pets in Utah. She joined the No More Homeless Pets in Utah team in October 2001 as the special events director but soon moved into the partner development position in January of 2002. Steph and her team work directly with the 54 animal control shelters and 27 adoption groups that make up the statewide No More Homeless Pets in Utah coalition. Their mission is to provide these agencies with the assistance they need to strengthen and expand all their programs, including increasing adoptions, recruiting volunteers and foster homes, fundraising and dealing with burnout.

Prior to No More Homeless Pets in Utah, Steph worked for two years as the special events director for the northern Utah office of Best Friends Animal Society. Before that, she spent three years as the director of volunteers and education at the Humane Society of Utah. During her time at the humane society, she assisted in developing a foster program that ran in conjunction with their volunteer program.

Steph received her bachelor's of science degree from the University of Utah in 1998. A new resident of Truckee, California, Stephanie lives with her husband, Jim, and their three dogs, Todd, Mocha and Duchess.
