Sarah Ause worked as a photojournalist at newspapers and magazines in northern Utah, Wyoming, Minnesota, and Maryland before heading down here to Best Friends. She lives in Kanab with a dozen critters, but there's as much love as there is hair. When she's not working, she's out exploring Utah's canyon country with her trusty sidekicks: a pointy-headed puppy from Ethiopia and a loyal cattle dog.

Gary Kalpakoff's background in photography started in the late 60's after attending the Brooks Institute of Photography. He has done varied work - he has owned a commercial studio with a partner, and also did underwater photography in Alaska and other parts of the world. Other exploits have been in the motion pictures as a cameraman and a lot of science work involving photography. Gary started with Best Friends in January 2008 and says he has found this job to be spiritually the most rewarding along with having great people to work with.

Molly Wald picked up photography by accident after she fell into the Kanab reservoir with her point-and-shoot camera. The camera was destroyed, but it led to the purchase of an SLR, which (eventually) led to a professional career in photography. A lifelong animal lover, she came to Best Friends in 2003 after working at an animal shelter in New Jersey.
