A Homeless Cat's Christmas
An orange cat tucked away in a cage quietly slumbered at night
He curled on his mat deep into dream tucked in a ball so tight
With a start he wok with great surprise
To reveal in the darkness a pair of mighty blue eyes
A candle flame danced from wall to wall
While that small orange cat tried to seem quite small
A great white beard was all to see
To the cats curiosity the man knelt down on his knee
He fumbled with the tag on the corner of his cage
To the cats' own astonishment the man smiled and said, "Sage"
The cat perked up, his ears twitched from side to side
With a flick of the mans wrist the cage opened wide
A large warm hand felt around the cage
He took a list from his pocket he then checked a box that said, "a home for Sage"
With his other hand he grabbed the cat
Along with his favored toy rat
In a box he went four paws first
He wasn't sure if he had been cursed
He nervously lurked around the box
In the darkness his white paws looked like socks
The box did close, and the warm air rushed in
From the outside the box was being pinned
That little orange cat feared for his life
Little did he know he would soon be someone else's delight
Fearing the end was near the orange cat went to sleep
But he was in good hands, in Santa's keep
The next thing he knew he was in the arms of a small girl
All he could do was purr, purr, purr
"I love him" the girl said
She gave the cat a pat on the head
"A home for me," the cat purred, "I am finally going to be loved."
