Sophie the Tuxedo.
Sophie the Tuxedo is a daughter of a stray that was rescued from the streets of St. Paul. I found out about her when I called my vet a few months after I lost a Persian female to kidney failure. My other Persian seemed to be mourning, so I brought Sophie into my life.
She'll be nine on June 23, and she has turned out to be the light of my life. Sadly I lost the other Persian also to kidney problems (a word to the wise about the problems of "pure" breeds), but Sophie is sweet. She's been through a lot -- smoke inhalation from a devastating fire and a bout of hepatitis that was touch and go -- but thanks to the superb care at the University of Minnesota small animal hospital, she has pulled through each time.
She likes to sleep on top of me, and to pat and stroke my face. She's is not as physically beautiful as the Persians, but she has a regal beauty and bearing that more than makes up for her lowly origins. She makes it clear she will accept nothing less than total admiration. She is still very playful and demands play sessions several times a day and I wouldn't have it any other way.
I hope to have her around for many years.
