Tux

This is Tux in his "cave."  Tux was found wandering the streets, alone, by some kind soul on Christmas Eve several years ago. This person took him to our local (not no-kill) animal shelter. He was a tiny kitten whose eyes were barely open, and he promptly developed a very serious upper respiratory infection.

He surely would have been euthanized except for our local animal rescue group, Austin Pets Alive, which took him to a foster home. That's where we found him, scared to death in a room full of kittens and cats.

His rough start in life has affected his health - he has lingering respiratory problems, has had diabetes (although he's ok now with high-quality canned food and regular veterinary care), had a cancerous growth removed from his back, and other minor problems.

We joke that he was lucky we adopted him because someone else might not have wanted or been able to afford to give him the medical care he needs.  But he's our baby and rules our house.

Lisa and Mike Meachamm Austin, Tex.
