Little Joe's Prayer

Hello God, it's me, little Joe, we've sent you Rocky and I miss him so.
He's the dog that's all black and white, now don't you worry, he doesn't bite.
Mom said that Rocky was too sick to eat and the kindest thing to do was to put him to sleep.
I first had a fit, then put up a fight, till mom held me close and together we cried.

She then kissed my face and said Rocky is alright, she told me he went to heaven and is right by your side.
So God let me tell you, he loves to play ball, he likes to catch Frisbees and chase leaves in the fall.
And when he is tired, he'll snuggle real close, that's probably what I'll be missing the most.
Please give him a kiss and tell him Good-bye, well I better run, I'm starting to cry.

Hello God, remember me, little Joe, we've sent you old Rocky a few months ago.
I cried every night and let me tell, things weren't the same without my old pal.
I tried not to be sad and it was really hard; Mom told Me that Rocky would live on in my heart.
I looked at his pictures the other day and remembered the way we used to play.
We had so much fun, old Rocky and I - here I go again, I'm starting to cry.

Today was my 6th birthday and to my surprise, Mom came home with a puppy with the biggest brown eyes.
He's really cute, I named him Lucky, he reminds me a bit of my old friend Rocky.
Mom said that Lucky came from a litter of five, being the smallest, he's had a rough start in life.
He needs lots of love and a friend to snuggle real close, just like with old Rocky - I miss that the most.
So, would you please ask Rocky if it's okay, for me and Lucky to have fun and play.
I guess I could teach him a trick or two, maybe Rocky could watch, if it's okay with you.
Would you please give him a hug and let him know it's from me; tell him I'll be fine, now that Lucky is with me.

Hello God, remember me, Joe. I've sent you Rocky so many years ago.
Then I've sent Lucky, then Lucy and then Blue, they're all up in heaven now, right there with you.
So God, I am wondering, do you have room for one more? You see I am dying and death is at my door.
I'm not afraid, I won't be alone, they'll all be waiting to welcome me home.
Don't mind my tears, if I should cry - no, I am not sad, they are tears of Joy.
We'll have so much fun, just like before; it's good to know I won't miss them no more.
And when we get tired, we'll snuggle real close, up to this day, I still miss that the most.
