One Sure Thing

As far as bad days go
today was absolutely the worst.
Everything went wrong that could
and a few things I thought wouldn't.
My boss was on my case nonstop
and every customer a jerk.
Road rage was on an all time high
on my way and back from work.
One driver ran me off the road
I drove into broken glass.
The spare tire of course was also flat
stranded on the 101 I sat.
Not one person stopped to help
even the Chips just drove on by.
I made the trek to find a shop
to have the flat repaired.
By the time I made it back to my car
it had already been tagged.
When I finally made it home
being several hours late
instead of being met with ire
I was welcomed by a wagging tail.
She jumped in my arms
she licked my face
all my troubles that day
she made fade away.
She wasn't mad that her supper was late
she didn't mind waiting for her walk.
She was just happy to see me
and I, happy to see her.
To think that someone gave her up
and left her at the shelter.
Their folly to my advantage
as I am now the one enjoying
the love that they are missing.
With everything in life so uncertain
there is only one sure thing
my silly little funny pup
always makes me smile.
