My Dog

Who knows my every step?
My nature and my moods?
Who forgets my anger and helps me not waste food?
Who coaxes me to play and sit at my command.

Who shares my heavy load?
With brown eyes that understand -
Who guards my humble home?
And to my chair lays claim?

Who loves without question?
And tracks mud in with the rain -
My dog, my friend, that's who.
