Gracie

The day after Hurricane Katrina I went to the SPCA to sign up to be a foster mom for one of the many animals that would be in route to Dallas. Through a typo (user error) my foster request was delayed - Thank Goodness!

By the time it was resolved (9/24) the only dogs available were Large dogs. It was at this time that I entered the holding area at the McKinney SPCA that I saw a sweet girl and with that one instant look with me that I knew she was the one - bones and all.

She was the quiet one just over a year old that had the eyes of an old soul. She was only about 18 months old and had obviously had puppies not too long ago. She was found rear the Lower 9th Ward on 9/15 with no tags.

After waiting to be rescued for two+ weeks, then brought to a shelter, then transported to McKinney SPCA, then to a foster home and then through heartworm treatment; this little girl shows the strength and tenacity equal only to those that fought to save these the animals.

She immediately wanted to be buried under my skin. To this day she is best snuggler! Luckily now she shares a goose down sofa with a cat, a pug and me (it's a big sofa)!
