Christmas - Wishes Can Come True

The lighted window shows the room so warm and softly glowing,
The tree so tall with twinkling lights and all tle presents showing.
Once again it's Christmas time and happiness fills the air,
Especially for the three of us who found a home and lots of loving care.

It was thirteen years ago when I was sitting there in a cold cage.
People came and went, but no one wanted me because of my age.
I was just a six year old fat cat that never hoped to find a home.
Until a little girl came who said she couldn't stand to see me there alone.

They said that I didn't like kids, so she should choose another cat,
But the little girl had her mind made up and that was simply that.
From that day on we've been best friends and hate to be apart.
She's now in college hoping to become a vet because of how I touched her heart.

The years passed and life was pleasant, safe, and warm in my new house.
I made sure there was no trouble and never did I allow a mouse.
Then one day when I was least expecting, he arrived with his stupidly happy grin.
And my owners looked at my grumpy face and said "Don't be mad Ce-Ce, but he's moving in."

This thing they called a dog came from the shelter too, and they named him Teddy.
I was not thrilled with this new arrival, but I accepted him when I was ready.
I guess for a dog he isn't really too bad, although, he isn't exactly full of wit.
Sometimes we even cuddle on the couch, but that's something I'll never again admit.

So the years flew by, and our life was real pleasant,
When it arrived one Christmas as a new shelter cat present.
Out of a box a bouncy fur-ball came.
There was not a doubt to what had to be his name.
