Charlee, Lokie and Zack

I adopted my three-legged Border Collie mix, Charlee, four years ago when he was 18 months old. His prior family had put him up for adoption after he had his rear leg removed. Apparently someone had "stepped on his leg and broke it. They took him to the vet to get it set, but never had the cast removed - gangrene set in and Charlee lost his leg. Shortly after that the family put him up for adoption.

My husband saw him at the adoption day and fell in love, and I felt the same way. What a special addition he has been to my life.

I have two other rescued dogs, Loki is a Great Dane mix, put up for adoption at three years of age because no one wanted him. He was so big and traumatized by the adoption process that he had to live in a small pen for over a year waiting for me to find him.

Zack is a Lab/German Shepard mix. His mother was abandoned in a box along with nine puppies, many of whom didn't survive.

I adore all three of my rescue dogs and they enrich my life daily.
