KANAB, Utah and LAS VEGAS (Feb. 9, 2022) – Best Friends Animal Society, a national animal welfare organization working to end the killing of dogs and cats in U.S. shelters by 2025, is teaming up with Caesars Sportsbook and Halle Berry for an ad that will premiere during the biggest “game night” of the year for animal lovers, the Puppy Bowl.

The :30 second spot features Halle Berry alongside adoptable kittens from Best Friends asking viewers to “foster a kitten.” The spot kicks off a national campaign by Best Friends encouraging people across the country to sign up to foster a kitten to relieve the overwhelming influx of kittens in local animal shelters during “kitten season,” which is during the warmer months when thousands of kittens begin overcrowding shelters nationwide.

Kittens require specialized and around-the-clock care required to help them thrive. Best Friends’ campaign aims to recruit kitten fosters now before kitten season begins because by the time the flood of kittens starts arriving, shelters often don’t have the bandwidth or time to recruit and train people to care for the kittens.

Sadly, Best Friends’ data shows that two cats are killed in shelters for every one dog. Every year, nearly 347,000 dogs and cats are killed in America’s animal shelters, of which nearly 70 percent are cats and kittens.

“It was special working with kittens and I’m so glad that we could support such a good cause while making a fun spot with Caesar’s” Halle Berry said.

“We are excited that the millions of Americans tuning into the Puppy Bowl will see a kitten from Best Friends Animal Society and learn about the plight of these adorable pets who can’t find permanent, loving homes,” said Julie Castle, CEO, Best Friends Animal Society. “With kitten season right around the corner, we are asking everyone nationwide to raise their hands to help. Whether you’re looking to post the ultimate cute on social media, need a daily dose of fun and silliness, or simply want to save lives and provide a kitten with a happy and healthy future, you can sign up to become a foster family today.”
