CIRCLEVILLE, Utah (Aug. 5, 2011) ─ Come be part of the No More Homeless Pets movement. People in the Circleville area are invited to participate in a large-scale effort to humanely control the population of community cats and also are encouraged to get their unaltered family dogs and cats spayed or neutered.

Best Friends Animal Society will be bringing The Big Fix Mobile Spay/Neuter unit to Circleville from Tuesday, Aug. 16-18. The vehicle will be parked at the Piute Paws Animal Rescue, 459 South 100 West, at the corner of 470 South and 100 West.

"The goal is to alter about 170 community cats through Best Friends cat initiative and help the local communities with their pets at the same time," said Janice Dankert, Best Friends Community Cat coordinator. "We really pleased to have this opportunity to help our friends and neighbors.

All of this is part of Best Friends Animal Society's ongoing effort in Utah and throughout the United States to reduce the number of homeless pets, which is the organization's national mission.

Families are encouraged to call 435-616-7130 to make an appointment to have their family dog or cat spayed/neutered. Price is $40 per dog and $10 per cat.

"Regarding community cats, we will need volunteers to help with this spay-neuter effort, which involves bringing in free-roaming cats for surgery, then returning them to their colonies where they are watched over by caregivers. We expect to be spaying and neutering cats from various surrounding areas, including Junction, Kingston, Marysvale, Antimony, Sevier and Monroe."
