David Chokachi

Actor David Chokachi’s deepest connection to Best Friends began 10 years ago when he and his wife, Susan, adopted their pit bull terrier-mix, Cami, from the Best Friends Super Adoption in Los Angeles.   Since then, he and his family, including their three-year old daughter, Brit, have visited the Sanctuary in Utah and become regular participants in Best Friends programs from Los Angeles to New York.

Chokachi, a native of Plymouth, Massachusetts, holds a degree in political science from Bates College in Maine, which, prior to becoming an actor afforded him the opportunity to serve as legislative aid to Congressman Gerry Studds.

The New York-based actor has been having an extremely busy year, completing six films and volunteering at various charity events on the east coast, including last spring’s Best Friends Super Adoption in White Plains.

Best known for his role as Cody Madison in the worldwide television phenomenon, “Baywatch,” David’s introduction to the series in its sixth season earned him an enormous fan base, along with the distinction of being voted one of People Magazine’s “50 Most Beautiful People.”

His successful foray into television paved the way for his winning roles in TNT’s original hit series “Witchblade,” The N’s “Beyond the Break” and a variety of films including the Sundance hit “Psycho Beach Party,” “The Dreamless,” an independent sci-fi thriller and “Bats 2,″ a Sony action film for the Sci-Fi Channel.

A devout environmentalist and animal advocate, David enjoys making people aware of important issues on behalf of the charities he supports, including Surfrider Foundation, Waterkeeper Alliance and Best Friends Animal Society.

"Having the opportunity to represent Best Friends as an ambassador is a huge honor for me,” says David. “My involvement with Best Friends Animal Society has allowed me to pursue my passion to help animals of all kinds. As an ambassador, I ultimately hope to have a much greater impact on animal welfare."
