Desiree Triste-AragonCommunity Cat Project Manager

As the community cat project manager for Best Friends, Desiree Triste-Aragon has helped launch Community Cat Projects all across the country in cities such as Tucson, Arizona, and Albuquerque, New Mexico. These three-year partnerships with PetSmart Charities and local municipal shelters address the overpopulation of free-roaming cats (aka community cats). As a result of these programs, municipal shelters are seeing a dramatic increase in save rates for cats. Albuquerque now has one of the lowest kill rates for cats in an open-admission shelter serving a major metropolitan area, and Tucson had a save rate of 90 percent or more for cats in 2015-2016.

Desiree received her B.A. at New Mexico State University and her M.A. at the University of Illinois, Urbana-Champaign.
